For years, rumors have circulated that Dan Brown’s new novel will be set in Washington, D.C. I’ve been saying that it will be about the Apotheosis of George Washington painting in the Dome of the U.S. Capitol. How could Brown miss a painting like that?

Well, it turns out I may be on the right track. On July 7, 2009 Brown’s publisher, Random House, released the jacket for the book. The U.S. version features the Dome of U.S. Capitol in front of a stylized red ‘mountain’. As Greg Taylor notes (www.thecryptex.com), the Capitol replaces the Mona Lisa. The sun rises behind the Dome.
